A new beer garden is opening in Fort Mill’s Baxter Village

Upscale seafood restaurant Fish Market Bar & Grill in Fort Mill is expanding in an unexpected way. Owner Selena Kelemen is breaking ground on a beer garden in the grassy area adjacent to the restaurant that is expected to open in early spring 2023.

Pět Piv — Czech for five beers — will have 12 beers and four wines on tap. The outdoor space located at 990 Market St., in the Baxter Village neighborhood, will seat 50-70 people at a variety of picnic tables and cozy seating areas.

“I wanted to create another option for people looking for a cool and casual place to hang out,” Kelemen said. Guests can expect a food menu that includes pizza and bar food dishes. The beer garden will feature a louvered pergola overhead to allow for coverage from the elements.

Kelemen began her career in the restaurant industry waiting tables during college before partnering to open Fish Market and eventually buying out her partner. Her goal was to create a fine dining restaurant with a mom-and-pop feel.

“When I met my husband, he was living in Florida. I knew I didn’t want to live in a tourist economy. I wanted to get to know my regulars -— see them on their first dates, getting engaged, getting married, having babies and watching their babies grow up. That’s what means so much to me,” Kelemen said.

Pět Piv will serve as another way for Kelemen to grow that connection within the expanding Fort Mill community.
