More space for design: Twin Meadow Home design center opens in East Longmeadow

Alexandra and Joseph Tremblay, owners of the design and décor business Tremblay Maison, located at 153 Longmeadow St. in Longmeadow, recently opened a second, much larger design center called Twin Meadow Home at 45A Baldwin St. in East Longmeadow.

With 11,000 square feet of show space, 5,000 square feet of warehouse space, and 13-foot ceilings, the new center provides more room to display furniture, and items that need height, like large rug racks and artwork, and for clients to purchase furniture right off the floor.

There’s also space for clients to view a variety of choices for their interior design. A large selection of kitchen cabinets, countertop materials, flooring and tile options, bathroom vanities, dining tables and chairs, sofa and chair styles, upholstery materials, lamps, desks and desk chairs are available for viewing.

The reason for opening a second facility is obvious. Space. There just wasn’t enough of it at the Longmeadow store.

“We’ve been formulating this idea for a couple of years,” Joseph Tremblay said. “We were looking in this area of East Longmeadow and this place came up. It was formerly a gym, so there was quite a bit of work to do inside, including creating a wide foyer at the entrance. It took us about eight months before we were comfortable bringing clients in. Now that we’re completely finished, we welcome walk-in customers, as well.”

The Longmeadow store opened in the fall of 2015. The new store opened at the end of August 2022. It’s open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Alexandra Tremblay holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the New York School of Interior Design. Also on staff, and available to help clients, are an associate designer and junior designer.

“People can come in, look around and get help from a designer right there in the store,” Alexandra Tremblay explained. “Designers can put together a plan from a photo, or, of course, we can come to your home and work with you there.”

They’ve also expanded their business in other ways. Joseph Tremblay said as the business evolved, they realized they needed to offer construction and general contracting services. He is now a licensed general contractor, which means they can do everything for their clients, all the way from building a new home and decorating it, to simply helping a customer pick out a chair in one of their stores.

They’re also willing to step into a renovation at any stage — at the beginning of the process, to help with the full interior build out and design, or in mid-renovation to help finish a project.

Another service they offer is to work with outside contractors at any point. They can provide consultation, or completely take over the project, depending on the client’s current agreement with their contractor.

They’ll even go beyond the immediate area. “Our clients come from all over Western Mass and Northern Connecticut,” Alexandra Tremblay said, “but we’ve also done work on vacation homes throughout New England and Florida.” The designers will provide this service either remotely or with a site visit.

“We try to make the process as easy as possible,” said Joseph Tremblay.
