There’s been an uptick in realistic home tours (think Julia Fox’s apartment reveal) and videos that show the unappealing side of cleaning—the antithesis to a slew of hyper-organized, Marie Kondo-inspired content. The latest celebrity to hop on the trend is Drew Barrymore, who gave a before-and-after tour of a bedroom in her New York City apartment that’s all too relatable.
In a video shared across her social channels, the talk show host put out a call to action: “Show me your room before and after you clean it… I’ll go first!”
Before a deep clean, Barrymore’s bedroom is cluttered with stacks of papers and loose items covering her desk, floor, bed, and bathroom counter—making much of the space hard to navigate and use. After presumably hours of cleaning, she walks through the freshly organized space including her walk-in closet and hallway.
One viewer who commented on her TikTok pointed out that “It was daylight when she started and night when she finished,” using the change as an indicator that she cleaned the space on her own. “She is one of us,” they added.
Apart from the realistic cleaning sesh, the star’s bedroom is full of design inspiration: cool rugs, an incredible canopy over the bed, a starry decorative ceiling, checkerboard flooring, and more. There are multiple gallery wall, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom, and useful sage green sideboard for storage. A daybed anchors the end of the bed, perfect for pulling on boots from her amazing walk-in closet (with a cozy runner rug). It’s clear she adores wall art as practically every wall we see features framed pieces and painted canvases. Messy and tidied up, her space is a true delight!
