Best Countertop Kitchen Appliances on Wayfair
As the counters, cabinets, and shelves in the exquisite kitchen at the 2022 House Beautiful Whole Home took shape, Indianapolis-based designer Whittney Parkinson turned to her next task: filling them! To find just the right appliances and chef’s tools for this cook’s paradise, she turned to the consummate source for all things kitchens and cooking: Wayfair. Parkinson relied on the site’s massive selection of beloved brands and value-conscious prices—not to mention the speedy shipping. “Especially at the end of a long project like this, we needed a lot of appliances, and we needed them quick,” she says. “They were the perfect source for our small appliance needs.” Check out her gotta-have-this selections below.
The Powerhouses
A Sturdy Stand Mixer
Parkinson calls a KitchenAid stand mixer an “obvious must,” especially if you do a lot of baking. Her choice of models, the super-versatile KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 10 Speed 6 Quart Stand Mixer, goes from gently kneading to thoroughly mixing to vigorously whipping your ingredients. The capacious 6-quart stainless steel bowl—the largest the brand offers—can hold enough dough to make 13 dozen cookies, according to the company. (Bake sale? Family party? Holiday cookie swap? Not a problem!) The brand is known for regularly introducing new, on-trend colors; Parkinson chose Matte Milkshake.
A Labor-Saving Blender
There’s pretty much nothing Vitamix’s Ascent Series A3500 Blender can’t blend. It offers five program settings for everything from mixing up smoothies to kneading bread dough. But it’s arguably worth owning for the self-cleaning setting alone. You’ll never again have to weigh the convenience of touch-of-a-button blending against the hassle of having to wash the components.
A Workhorse of a Food Processor
Make short work of shredding cabbage for coleslaw. Whip up homemade mayonnaise like a trained chef. Juice two dozen oranges without inviting carpal tunnel syndrome. The NutriChef 12-Cup Electric Food Processor‘s six included attachment blades make it a monumental multi-tasker.
The Morning Must-Haves
A Never-Scorch-A-Slice Toaster
White, rye, whole wheat? Whatever your bread of choice, the Breville the Toast Select™ Luxe has a setting that will toast it perfectly—and same goes if you prefer bagels, buns, or crumpets instead (yes, there’s a crumpet setting—use that one for bagels if you’re not a regular crumpet consumer). Plus, if you’ve been, well, burned one too many times and now obsessively pop up your toast to check its progress, the Breville has your back. A “Lift and Look” button lets you assess brownness without interrupting the toasting cycle.
A Barista-Worthy Coffee Maker
Given that Parkinson did an entire interview from the Whole Home kitchen without ever setting down her coffee cup, you can bet she’s choosy when it comes to coffee makers. The DeLonghi Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine, which works with both pods and ground coffee, will help make your mornings go smoothly.
A Drip-Defying Waffle Maker
With its stainless-steel construction, nonstick cooking surface, and simple-to-use browning control dial, the Breville BWM520XL The No Mess Waffle Maker creates delicious, crisp-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside waffles. Almost as compelling is what it doesn’t create: batter splatter. The nonstick circular moat catches drips and overflow, so there’s no sticky counter clean-up. (So long as you’re careful pouring the maple syrup.)
The Fun Extras
A Powerful Juicer with a Vintage Vibe
Juicers aren’t typically pretty enough to double as decor, but Tribest’s Pro MJP-100 Professional Manual Slow Masticating & Cold Press Juicer not only makes juicing quick, easy, and quiet, but its old-school look adds a touch of industrial chic that suits even the most modern kitchen. The Pro MJP-100 can take on oranges, limes, lemons, and, due to its nearly 4-inch-diameter bowl, even grapefruit.
A Charming Butter Churn
OK, so the Treasure Gurus Dazey Glass Hand Crank 1 Quart Butter Churn might fall more into the category of “quirky decoration” than “go-to gadget” (though Wayfair says it will reward you with butter if you’ve got some cream and elbow grease to spare). Still, the rustic wooden paddles and weathered cast-iron lid and crank wheel make this replica of an antique churn an appealing conversation piece.
